A Life Composed in Music
Born and raised in Dothan, Alabama, music was never something that had to be taught — it was simply there. From an early age, the language of melody and rhythm spoke louder than words, and it never stopped.
As a teenager, the journey began behind a drum kit, learning the feel of a beat before the theory behind it. That natural ear for sound soon led to picking up other instruments in the middle school band — not by reading sheet music, but by listening and feeling. Eventually, the hands that once kept time on drums found a new home on the piano and keys, and a deeper musical voice began to emerge.
That passion was pursued with purpose at Alabama State University, where music became not just a love, but a discipline. As a music major, marching in the Alabama State University marching band, and becoming a proud member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, the foundations were being built — not just for a career, but for a calling.
Along the way, life brought many seasons. As part of the R&B group South MC's — later known as Maree', and being Nominated for a Stellar Award. Writing and producing across Jazz, Gospel, and R&B albums, the goal was never fame, but faithfulness to the gift. Work in retail, healthcare, and other fields filled the gaps, but music was always the thread running through it all. It has always been the first love.
Today, that calling continues with ministry through music — with the simple conviction that music is most powerful when it points to something greater. A devoted husband of 30 years, a father, and a man of faith, the mission is straightforward: demonstrate love for God by loving people, one note at a time.
The instruments may have changed. The stages have varied. But the song has always been the same.
